8/26/2023 0 Comments Goro from mortal kombatCurt Chiarelli wisely changed it to 2 fingers and a thumb." My original concept sketch had Goro with 3 fingers and a thumb on each hand. In 2011, Tobias recalled: "Goro was originally called Gongoro, but we decided to shorten his name. The original concept of the character was a two-handed humanoid character Rokuro, a member of "a race of demon warriors called Rokuro-kubi (demons of the dark)" wrongly "reputed as savage barbarians", who would join the tournament "to restore the pride and respect of his race." The idea for a character with four arms came from one of the Sinbad movies. He has also appeared in other franchise media, such as comics and the live action film as well its animated prequel, Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins.Īccording to John Tobias, Goro was created when he and Ed Boon discussed bringing "a big brooding character" to the first Mortal Kombat. Goro is seen as one of the iconic characters of the series, with various publications listing him as one of the most memorable and difficult bosses in video game history. Goro also made subsequent appearances in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, and its 2015 sequel, Mortal Kombat X. He returned to a villainous role as a playable character in the GameCube and PSP versions of 2004's Mortal Kombat Deception, forming a pact with Shao Kahn. In contrast to his previous role as a villain, in the storyline of Mortal Kombat 4 he aligns himself on the side of good. Goro returned in the home versions of Mortal Kombat 4 as a sub-boss and an unlockable character. He returned in Mortal Kombat Trilogy, this time as a playable character. The character was not in the next two Mortal Kombat titles, which instead featured two other Shokan fighters, Kintaro and Sheeva. Unlike most characters in the game, who were digitized representations of live actors, Goro was a clay sculpture animated through stop motion. In the original game he has been champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament for 500 years before being defeated by eventual tournament champion Liu Kang. Goro is part of the four-armed half-human, half-dragon race, called the Shokan. He first appears in the original Mortal Kombat as an unplayable boss character, challenging the player before the final fight with Shang Tsung. 8/26/2023 0 Comments Submarine 2010 linkIn both the shot of Tate in the introduction he is found under the water line. The effect of only introducing one character in the opening sequence emphasises Tate’s lonesomeness. This represents the deeper side Tate has to his character. Oliver Tate appears reclusive in the opening sequences as he sits on the floor wearing dark colours. We may expect to find our character sitting in other parts of his room like his arm chair or on his bean bag instead of the floor. This further implies that Tate is not a normal teenager. Itįinally, we find Tate situated under the window on the floor. Faintly waves can be heard as well as sea gulls informing us that this film is located by the sea. We could infer from what Tate says as though he knows better than to “walk around like nothings wrong”.Ī slow panning shot of Tate’s room which creates a natural ambience giving subtle clues as to the location of the film through diegetic sound. It could be interpreted that Tate doesn’t want to be categorised with the everyday person and so talks of himself and them as two separate groups: “most people… no one else like them”. What he says has under tones of spite and condescension. Or has he been secluded by society? The voice over we hear from Tate is odd. Perhaps this is a boy who has secluded himself from society. The location of his room in the house, in the attic could represent the distance he has placed between himself and others. Tate’s individuality is distinguished from the beginning. The combination of the panning his room, the voice over and the close up of Tate informs us that he will be our protagonist in the film. We are only introduced to one character in the opening to Submarine. We are left wanting to know more about our protagonist as he stands alone by the sea at the end of the opening sequence. What is his relation to the sunsetting shots that follow?.Although it is obvious that the film will follow Tate the opening sequence leaves the story for the film mysterious. Not much can initially be interpreted from sequence. 2 shots of Tate follow both shots are from behind. As there is little of immediate significance in each shot we begin to wonder whether much will happen in the film. Each shot has an extended duration, lasting about 5 seconds long. Then 5 establishing shots of the landscape with the sun setting in the distance. The first, of what we, the audience presumes is his home town. My name is Oliver Tate.” This is followed by 2 quick cuts to increasingly short close ups of him to the beat of the guitar as the music begins. This thought motivates them to get out of bed, eat food and walk around like nothings wrong. That there is no one on the planet like them. He says “Most people think of themselves as individuals. It simply has a lone character (Craig Roberts) sitting under a window with an voice over from the Character. The storyline to the opening sequence is not specific. This could be implying that the film follows Tate’s transition from an introvert to becoming more extroverted. This could represent how the narrative is about events in the real world as a pose to Tate’s own world ‘under the sea’. Perhaps, is the protagonist ‘out of the box’? When we find Tate, we discover him under the waterline of the poster next to him. When you are in a submarine you are effectively ‘boxed in’. Although there is no obvious answer we could interpret it in many ways. The boxed titles could be interpreted as representing how the character may feel restricted and boxed up. This helps us associate the film with the sea, creating stronger links with the location. The blue and white are the colours of the sea and the Navy. These are all showed is white writing on a blue background. This film demonstrates production synergy as it uses various sectors of companies to produce the film. There are the two main production companies: Film 4, a key advocate for British film, and the UK Film Council (BFI). Along with these, there are 6 other companies which helped produce the film. The multiple production companies shows that this is an independent production. Using inter-titles, make it more interesting to the audience. The reasoning behind doing this may be because have so may production companies all reeled off in one long list would be boring and is more likely to detract an audience the opposite to what an opening sequence is designed to do. these are spread apart with extracts of the film in between. Along with the UK Film Council (The National Lottery financially supports The UK Film Council hence why their logo is in set).Īfter the production cards we have the beginning of the titles. Film 4 helped provide funds for this film. 8/26/2023 0 Comments Trader joes humboldt fog cheeseSoooo.maybe Wine Enthusiast would have a different take on the 2014. So then I stumbled across this post on the Costco Wine Blog published in 2015, they compared the 20 vintages of A to Z Pinot Noir and found quite a few differences. My perennial question is whether reviews of a previous vintage can be extrapolated in ANY way to later vintages (the one I had is a 2014). Tannins are substantial, which may be a plus if you want to pair it with a burger." Truth is, I totally agree with "light, earthy and thin," but like in a GREAT way. On the one hand, Wine Enthusiast was really mean about the 2013 vintage: "Light, earthy and thin, this doesn't bring much in the way of either fruit or pleasure. What do smarter people say about it? Well, I don't have much for you, I'm sorry to say. Who's responsible for this? "Produced & Bottled by A to Z Wineworks"ĭo I need a corkscrew? No! Dunno why, but this baby is a screwtop. But it does NOT taste like pine needles and mud, which is the TRUE essence of Oregon, so I gotta disagree. What the Wine Idiot says: Incidentally, I grew up in Oregon, but I never drank a sip of wine until I moved to California. What the bottle says: "The Essence of Oregon." Which is where the wine comes in-it cleans everything off, and the flavors complement each other wonderfully. The cheese is creamy, light, and mildly acidic with a stronger flavor near the rind." It's soft and almost sticky, and it coats your mouth with delicious cheesy-ness. The bloomy mold and ash rind are edible but fairly tasteless. As the cheese matures, more of the originally crumbly core is converted to a soft-ripened texture. The cheese ripens starting with the bloomy mold exterior, resulting in a core of fresh goat cheese surrounded by a runny shell. If you've never had this divine cheese, I can't really explain it so here's Wikipedia: "Humboldt Fog is a mold-ripened cheese with a central line of edible white ash much like Morbier. This wasn't great with the brie, it was tasty with the Spanish cheeses, and it was UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING AWESOME with the Humboldt Fog. If I was going to describe this as tasting like any fruit, I would say it has a firm touch of unripe plum. And I gotta hand it to him, Patrick is totally right on this. Still tasted like plum, but with lots of mouth-puckering. But he fought back and said, "yeah, like a black plum that's not quite ripe." And instantly I flashed back to the last time I bought unripe black plums from Ralph's-I was upset because instead of crazy-sweet, dripping red flesh inside, it was crisp and tart. I asked Jon and Patrick what they thought Jon said "tart," and Patrick said "tastes like plum." At first I was like "oh noooooo, so wrong," because fruity is not what I would call the dominant element in this wine. It's a teensy-weensy bit mouth-puckering at the end, but in a good way. And the first quaff was smooth, light, and dry-just like I like pinot noir. Smells fruity almost but not super sweet, and surprisingly I couldn't smell alcohol. So this isn't one of those screaming hot deals on a brand-name wine, it's just convenient that you can now get this at TJ's. And, if memory serves, the price point is about the same that I paid at whatever wine store I got it from a few years back. The A to Z Pinot Noir had been recommended to me years ago by a coworker who takes his wine seriously (he even makes his own!), but I only recently started seeing it at Trader Joe's. Pinot noir seemed like a good compromise-not heavy, not sweet, with just enough kick to clean your palate with every sip. While I know conventional wisdom dictates a white to go with a cheese plate, they wanted a red. So they wanted to start with a cheese plate comprised of brie, Humboldt Fog, and my trusty 3-cheese Spanish cheese sampler from TJ's. My brother Patrick and his fiancé Jon were coming over for steak night, which is when they bring over filet mignon and I provide the wine and the grill and then we all eat on the coffee table like college students instead of at my very grown-up table that can expand to seat up to six. OK, so I splurged a little on a wine I already knew I liked. So my brother saw this at Starbucks and bought it for me and it was put together the next day because I do not mess around with Christmas.) See, I'm sort of a gingerbread house aficionado, and I also used to work at Starbucks-and once a partner, always a partner. (A quick note about the picture above: Yes, that is a Starbucks gingerbread store. 8/26/2023 0 Comments Comline wavebox 6214Wavecontroller 7092 is used to control the entire system. Presses the water to the left-hand side of the tank causing all polyps in every position in the aquarium to move to the left. and the entire water in the aquarium returns to the right-hand side. Oscillating current with near-nature wave.ĭe-sedimentation of the entire aquarium.Ĭonsumption, high efficiency and low motor heat. The TUNZE® Comline® Wavebox 62 are wave generators for smaller (150 to 800 liters 40 to 211 US gal.) and larger aquariums (400 to 1,400 liters 105 to 370 USgal.). They produce an oscillating current which precisely corresponds to the wave formation and water movement in reef zones. The Wavebox is controlled by the integrated Wavecontroller 7092 or a Multicontroller 7096 / 7097, which optimally uses the wave’s energy which correspond to the resonant frequency of the aquarium. The resonant frequency is set with the Wavecontroller, which enables the wave to rise the maximum height within the aquarium. An enormous water movement is then effectively generated with a very low power consumption. The flow generated by this movement reaches all areas of the tank, including corners and behind stones. Oscillating current with near-nature wave.ĭe-sedimentation of the entire aquarium.Ĭonsumption, high efficiency and low motor heat. The Wavecontroller 7092 controls the pump in such a manner, that the on/off switching corresponds to a certain frequency. in this case they will operate alternatingly: When one Wavebox operates, the other is switched off, et cetera. Two Waveboxes can be placed in opposite corners of the tank. Do the Waveboxes have to be located next to each other in case of space problems? Two Waveboxes 6214 are needed for a tank with a content of 2,000 liters (528 USgal.). The circular current of the Turbelle and the washing of the waves produced by the Wavebox superimpose each other and result in a strongly pulsating circular current for reef top biotopes, for example. Wavebox can also be integrated in an aquarium with Turbelle pumps. Is the Wavebox compatible with other Turbelle pumps? However, this can be achieved by means of the bigger Wavebox only. In order to get an indication for this frequency, the resonance frequency of single wave has to be divided by two. Given an aquarium of two metres (78 in.) in length, a double wave can be produced. TUNZE outlets can withstand such variations without any problems, but they may cause noise. The greater the distance from this zone, the higher the difference in water level. If and when possible, this zone should be used for the outlet and inlet. Given a single wave, the water level varies only very little in the centre of the aquarium (relative to the longitudinal axis). The integrated Magnet Holder enables easy attachment anywhere in the aquarium up to a pane thickness of 15 mm (2/3").Ĭan the Wavebox be fitted in an aquarium with outlet? The Comline Wavebox 6208 uses a Turbelle nanostream 6055 with the Turbelle controller and its very compact dimensions enable hidden installation in aquariums. The Comline Wavebox 6208 is a wave generator for small and medium-sized tanks from 150 to 800 liters (40 - 211 USgal.). With Moonlight Turbelle, controls the night setback of the controller.
